Here's what Lisa had to say about her tutorial: It has been a while since I've spent time crafting for myself. I decided to change that this week and do something with the canvas dropcloth I've been tripping over in my workshop. I love the almost linen-like look of the untreated canvas and decided to use it on my tabletop. A few cuts, a few stitches, and some collaboration with my little ones and I had myself some placemats.

Lisa's Bio:Living under the poplar and pine in rural Minnesota I find inspiration in the nature that surrounds me. I'm especially drawn to mushrooms, moss, and the oddly lumpy and beautifully textural bits found on the forest floor.

Here's what Alisa had to say about her tutorial: Recently I gathered some fun things for a birthday package that I was putting together to send off to my friend's little girl. While doing my weekly browsing at Target's dollar bin, I came across a puzzle for $1 and suddenly had the idea to paint over it to make a brand new colorful kids puzzle to include in the package. This puzzle was super easy and would actually make a great project create with kids!

Alisa's Bio: Alisa Burke is a freelance painter and mixed media artist who studied fine art at Portland State University. With a background in painting and printmaking, a desire to explore and push materials, Alisa is always looking for new ways to break the rules and redefine art. She draws inspiration from street art, graffiti, art history and fashion and it is not uncommon to find her digging through the trash in hopes of recycling something unique use in her artwork.

Alisa’s paintings have been exhibited in a variety of galleries and her handmade, painted accessories are carried in a number of boutiques across the country. Her artwork has been featured in publications such as Cloth Paper Scissors, Quilting Arts, Where Women Create, Somerset Studios’ Haute Handbags, Art Doll Quarterly, and the University of San Diego Magazine. In addition to making art, Alisa teaches a variety of workshops nation wide. Alisa appeared as a guest artist on the DIY Network show Craft Lab and book Canvas Remix was released in spring 2008.

Here's what Christie had to say about her tutorial: This was post I wrote for Kate’s Ruffle Series a few weeks ago. I know I’ve done a couple variations of bike baskets (check the tutorial archives), but I’m kind of in love with bike baskets. I love how they are so convenient and practical, but can be totally cute at the same time. But having recently stopped by Walmart and seeing the price tags of bike baskets, you could easily make your own for much cheaper! This time I wanted to keep it really simple—a project that can easily be done in an hour or less. And since ruffles are such a beautiful compliment to so many items, I thought a ruffle would be perfect to liven up this bike basket.

Here's what Christie had to say about her tutorial: In case you missed me on my friend Sabra's blog Sew a Straight Line, I was a guest blogger a while back and did a tutorial on how to make a wetbag.

I like wetbags because you can use them for more than just cloth diapering. Take them to the pool for wet clothing and towels. Maybe you have a little one who is potty training. This would be a handy thing to have in the diaper bag for any accidents. Much cuter than a plastic grocery bag, don’t you think? This wetbag ends up being 9” x 12” and will fit about 3 large cloth diapers, but you can certainly adjust the sizes to make a larger bag.

Here's what Christie had to say about her tutorial: First off, let’s just get it out of the way and mention that yes, the paint totally spread on the names. Super bummed about that, but it was really late and although I pressed down the vinyl hard enough, I applied too much paint and it made the vinyl bubble. My paint was way thin, so I don’t think that helped, either. So yah, the names look crappy. Someday I’ll make more and post better pictures of the finished product. The first one I made looked much better, but I gifted it before taking pictures. Such is life!

Anyways, excuses, excuses, right? Sorry. Moving right along. You just need paint, a glue gun, about a 2” x 40” strip of knit (or other fabric—I chose knit so it won’t fray), and a canvas tote bag. That three pack there is about $6.00 at my Walmart.

Here's what Christie had to say about her tutorial: My son has just started first grade this year, and we let him buy his lunch once a week. Instead of him having to carry his wallet, he can just wear this cuff that can hold his lunch money (or keys, notes, etc.).

I remembered when I was young seeing a watch with a detachable face that held money. I thought it would be fun to be able to make something similar that would hold money. I did do some research and saw that these types of things are sold online, but now you can make your own with some cute fabric!

*I made mine to fit my 5 and 7 year old. You can adjust the longer measurement to fit your child’s wrist. Just make sure to leave some room for the velcro.

I didn’t want to wait on this because it’s time for school to start very soon! Remember how I bought this fabric and could only find and afford one fat quarter? Well, this was the idea that popped into my head. And surprisingly, my son D claimed it as his since big brother got the first one. I thought it was a tad on the girly side, but he loves it because of the cute little critters on it.
